With the weather turning warmer (let’s hope). I find myself making up my FAVORITE mini-meal or snack. It’s refreshing, healthy, and has the carbs and protein needed after or before a workout. I eat this at least once a day and sometimes 2 x a day. To the recipe…
1 6-8 oz container of yogurt of choice (greek, soy, low-fat, goat, coconut, etc)
1 c+ of berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or a mix)
1 small banana (optional, I add it when I am really hungry)
1 tbsp chia seeds
What are chia seeds? Chia was cultivated by the Aztecs and thought as a “power food”. Chia is one of the best plant sources of Omega 3 oils especially linolenic acid (ALA). These essential fatty acids found in Chia seeds support cardiovascular health, comfortable joint mobility, immune system function and cellular energy. Chia is high in vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, potassium, phosphorous.
