Running can rip out your heart one moment and make it jump for joy at another.
Running is actually going quite well in regards to workouts. I am feeling fitter each week, stronger (thanks to Mike and Froedtert Sports Med.) and starting to really believe the goal is possible. In a lot of ways life is great.
But the body is only capable of so much. One has to listen to it daily and sometimes be flexible with workouts. There will be days when I can get it done and others that I will just have to be the “smart” athlete and hop in the pool or on the elliptical. Grateful for Dr. Lesko, Froedtert Sports Med and Mike Ribar, Dr. Porter and others that are helping me get through the rest of the racing season. Here is the plan:
Sept 18 – Africa Relief 5K (awesome cause to support)- Pleasant Prairie
Sept 26 – Quad Cities Marathon
Oct 10 – Panther Prowl 5K – Milwaukee
Oct. 17 – Des Moines Marathon
Oct 30 – Road America 4 mi – Elkhart Lake
Nov 6 (tenative) – Tyranena Half Marathon – Lake Mills
Nov. and Dec. – getting some injuries taken care of… but will be good to go come Feb.
In addition to what I have done that will put 9 strong races on the 2010 calendar. Happy and grateful and looking forward to a NO injury or set-backs in 2011 and a olympic trials marathon qualifying time in Fall 2011. I have the best in the business guiding me, now it’s my turn to follow the plan. All is good.
